New York Riptide Sign Cade Van Raaphorst To Two-Year Contract

Uniondale, NY (August 5, 2021) – The New York Riptide have signed defenseman Cade Van Raaphorst to a two-year contract, the team announced today. The deal is pending league approval.

Per team policy, no terms were released.

A graduate of Duke University, Van Raaphorst appeared in 70 career games for the Blue Devils, scooping 154 ground balls and causing 67 turnovers. A three-time All-ACC honoree, Van Raaphorst is a two-time USILA All-America first team pick, three-time USILA All-American, and was a 2019 Tewaaraton Award Nominee.

“Cade, who lives in New York City, was recommended to us by a PLL teammate and the more we watched him, the more we liked,” Riptide General Manager Jim Veltman said. “We believe his skills and athletic ability will transfer well to the box game and give him a real chance of cracking our roster. Signing him will add to an already competitive training camp.”

In the outdoor game, Van Raaphorst was the 11^th overall pick in the 2019 PLL Entry Draft, picked by Atlas LC. In 24 career games, Van Raaphorst has 66 groundballs and 41 caused turnovers. Additionally, Van Raaphorst has 8 points to his career, including 2 two-point goals.

The Riptide will return to Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the franchise’s second season this December.
