New York Riptide Sign Larson Sundown And Dawson Tait To Three-Year Contracts

Uniondale, NY (June 10, 2021) – The New York Riptide have signed Larson Sundown and Dawson Tait to three-year deals, the team announced today.

Per team policy, no terms were released.

Sundown and Tait have been teammates at RIT, who recently took home the NCAA Division III National Championship. Tait, selected 81st overall by the Riptide in the 2020 NLL Draft, scored 63 points on 49 goals and 14 assists in 14 games in 2021. In 2019, he started 22 games for RIT, set new career highs in points (73), goals (41) and assists (32) while earning Honorable Mention All-American honors. Sundown, who attended RIT for a 5th year and was selected 36th overall by the Riptide in the 2020 NLL Draft, scored 50 points on 24 goals and 26 assists in 14 games this season. Sundown was a two-time NJCAA First Team-All American and earned Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2019 at Limestone University. That season, he set a Limestone record with 110 points on 70 goals and 40 assists.

“After following RIT’s run to the Division III National Championship, I can’t tell you how thrilled we are to sign these two players into our Riptide organization,” Riptide General Manager Jim Veltman said. “We value players that have experienced what it takes to be a champion and these two were instrumental contributors to RIT’s success.  Adding players with Larson’s and Dawson’s championship pedigree is important to us.”

The Riptide will return to Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the franchise’s second season this December. Fans have a chance to be one of the first to own a player tee of 2020 first overall pick Jeff Teat! For a limited time, place a $50 deposit per seat on a Season Ticket Membership and receive a free Jeff Teat player t-shirt. While supplies last.
