NEW YORK RIPTIDE SIGN THOMPSON AND BORGATTI

Uniondale, NY (September 22, 2020) – The New York Riptide announced today that the team has signed Ty Thompson and Andrew Borgatti to two-year contracts. The contracts are pending league approval.

“Ty provides the size and scoring touch we need up front and Andrew gives us a versatile player that can play well at both ends of the floor,” Riptide general manager Jim Veltman said. “We are thrilled that we were able to select both of them in the draft.”

Thompson, selected 25th overall in last Thursday’s NLL Entry Draft, played collegiately at the University of Hartford. In 19 games over two seasons with the Hawks, he had 75 points on 22 goals and 32 assists. He captured a Minto Cup in 2019 with the Orangeville Northmen following a Junior B career with the Nepean Knights in which he had 288 points on 96 goals and 192 assists in 76 games.

Borgatti was selected by the Riptide just four picks later, 29th overall. A CUFLA Academic All-Canadian honoree following the 2019 season at Wilfrid-Laurier University, Borgatti had 14 points on seven goals and seven assists that season. He spent three seasons with Brampton and wrapped up his junior career with the Kitchener-Waterloo Braves. In 20 games for the Braves, he had 12 points with six goals and six assists.

The Riptide will return to Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the franchise’s second season in 2020-21. For more information please visit NewYorkRiptide.com or on social media at @NewYorkRiptide.
