Orlin & Cohen Postgame Report: Nine Riptide Players Score as Riptide Defeat Knighthawks

Uniondale, NY – Jeff Teat scored 10 points on three goals and seven assists, and Steven Orleman had 36 saves as the New York Riptide (6-10) were victorious 15-7 over the Rochester Knighthawks (3-13) at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY Saturday evening.

Teat’s performance earned him his eighth career hat trick, and the first-year player currently leads the NLL in points, goals and assists among rookies. Jake Fox scored four goals on the night, setting a new career-high. Nine different players scored for the Riptide, a franchise high.

“I challenged them before the game to be consistent from last game to this game, and I thought offensively we did a good job,” Riptide Head Coach Dan Ladouceur said. “Our spacing has been good in the last three games and we’re sharing the ball and swinging the ball. We’re not trying to force things in the middle of the floor and our timing has been much better. And once the guys got dialed in, we shot very well.”

It was all Riptide in the first quarter as the team scored the game’s four goals to go up 4-0. Jeff Teat had an assist on all four goals, as the tallies came from Dan Lomas, Ron Jon, and a pair from Jake Fox.

In the second quarter, Brent Noseworthy made a pass from the ground to Andrew Borgatti in transition, to give the Riptide a 5-0 lead. Jeff Teat fired home his first of the game to push the lead to six. After a goal from the Knighthawks, Kieran McArdle followed it up on the power play for the 7-1 lead. Rochester would score the half’s final two goals, as the Riptide took a 7-3 lead into the break.

The third quarter started with a Riptide power-play, and Jeff Teat cashed in with his second goal of the game. After a pair of Rochester goals, Connor Kearnan scored on a hidden ball trick that had the defense fooled. A few minutes later, Steven Orleman fired a pass down field to Scott Dominey who scored in transition. Jake Fox completed his hat trick to end the quarter and give the Riptide an 11-5 lead.

In the final frame, Dan MacRae got it started with a goal in transition, before Jeff Teat finished off his hat trick to give New York a 13-5 lead. The teams traded goals with Lomas scoring his second of the game for the 100th point of his career, and Fox scoring his fourth of the game to give the Riptide the 15-7 victory.

The Riptide will return home to Nassau Coliseum next weekend to face the Halifax Thunderbirds on Saturday April 23th at 7:30pm as the team hosts Fan Appreciation Night.
