Riptide Acquire Long Island-native Petey Lasalla, Colton Lidstone, Kevin Orleman and Future NLL Draft Picks

NEW YORK (January 18, 2023) – New York Riptide General Manager and EVP Rich Lisk announced today that the team has acquired Colton Lidstone, Petey Lasalla, Kevin Orleman, second-round pick in the 2024 NLL Draft, second-round pick in the 2025 NLL Draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2023 NLL Draft from Panther City Lacrosse Club in exchange for Callum Crawford.

“In this league you develop close relationships with players beyond the field and personally, today is a tough day as Callum is one of those players,” said Lisk. “He took a chance on our organization a few years ago and I will always be grateful that he helped build the foundation. There is a fine balancing act between the competition side and personal side of this sport, and this move helps us for our future but also gives Callum the opportunity to play closer to home in front of his family.”

Crawford is currently in his 17th NLL season and is a four-time All-Pro.  He joined the Riptide in advance of the 2021-22 season and registered 88 points (39 goals and 49 assists) in 15 games played that season.

“I would like to thank Erik Baker, Rich Lisk, the coaching/training staff and the entire Riptide organization for their professionalism and priority of being a player-first club,” said Crawford. “Additionally, I would like to thank the great lacrosse fans on Long Island who welcomed and supported me at the Nassau Coliseum and within the community. Even though this transaction is based on a decision for what is best for my family, I strongly believe in the Riptide organization and the direction that it’s heading.”

Lasalla, who plays for the University of Virginia Cavaliers, is a native of Miller Place, NY. The 5’7, 185-pound righty was a preseason All-American this year with Virginia. For four years, he has proven to be the most dangerous well-rounded face-off man in the nation. An elite stay-and-play face-off man, he creates and exploits advantageous matchups with an offensive acumen and stickhandling that is rare for his position. Lasalla holds UVA’s career record holder for face-off wins and ground balls, single-season record holder for face-off wins (277) and ground balls (137) and face-off wins and ground balls in NCAA Tournament games.

“I’m thrilled to join the New York Riptide and for the opportunity to return to Long Island,” said Lasalla. “Playing lacrosse professionally is a dream come true. I look forward to getting to work next season.”
