Riptide Announce Three Signings

New York, NY (March 4, 2020) – The New York Riptide announced today that Andrew Suitor and Cody Radziewicz have been signed to contract extensions and Pat Saunders has been signed to a one-year deal. All three are pending league approval.

Radziewicz signed a two-year contract extension, making him a member of the Riptide through the 2022 season. The Johns Hopkins product has seen action in 11 games for New York this season, recording six points on two goals and four assists while also scooping up 44 loose balls and causing 12 turnovers.

“Cody is one of our young guys that is benefiting from learning from a few of the best leaders in the business and is really coming into his own,” Riptide head coach and general manager Regy Thorpe said. “He’s earned his spot by hustling for ground balls, anticipating where the balls going and playing much bigger than his size. Cody’s grit, hard work and athleticism certainly will help our team as we build towards year two and beyond.

Suitor, now under contract through 2021, has seen action in 11 games for the Riptide this season with six points on one goal and five assists. He has scooped up 106 loose balls and is on pace to easily eclipse his single-season career high of 120, set in 2012 when he was NLL Transition Player of the Year. His current total is the fourth-best in the NLL right now.

“Since Suits joined the Riptide family he has gone above and beyond to help our young team not only on the floor and in the locker room but off the floor as well,” Thorpe said. “He’s a loyal warrior and a man of his word with high character. We are lucky to have him for next year. For our younger guys to have leaders/mentors like Danny (MacRae) and Suits is something I know our team is lucky to have. Locking him up for next season will certainly set us up for a great year two no doubt in my mind. There’s no one I would rather be in the trenches with as we build our New York Riptide foundation brick by brick.”

Saunders, a 11-year veteran, saw action in two games for Rochester this season with five points on two goals and three assists while also scooping up nine loose balls. For his career, he has played in 90 games with 283 points (159 goals, 124 assists) with 272 loose ball pickups.

“We are excited to sign veteran Pat Saunders,” said Thorpe. “He brings a wealth of experience to our young offense. Our staff is very familiar with Pat and we know he will fit right into our system. He’s a lunch pail type player that will do anything that is asked and he’s super coachable. We know what we get with him and we feel our young players can learn from him.”

The Riptide will be back in action on Saturday, March 7th when they take on the Georgia Swarm at NYCB LIVE at 7:30 p.m. Groups and individual tickets are available now at www.NewYorkRiptide.com or by speaking to a customer service representative at 516-402-3006. Fans can also follow the team @NewYorkRiptide to receive behind the scenes information from the 2019-20 season.
