Riptide Fall In Franchise Opener

The New York Riptide fell to the Halifax Thunderbirds 12-4 in the first game of the season for both teams at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.

 

Dan Lomas had two goals in the loss for the Riptide. Tyson Gibson, the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NLL Entry Draft, scored the first goal in Riptide history with 2:59 remaining in the second quarter, and added an assist. Tyler Digby had two assists in the loss for New York while Connor Kelly had a goal and Kieran McArdle, Travis Longboat and Ryan Fournier each had one assist.

 

Austin Shanks (two goals, one assist), Eric Fannell (two goals, one assist) and Kyle Jackson (one goal, two assists) led the Thunderbirds with three points each in the win.

 

The Riptide will be in action next on Saturday, December 14 when they travel to Vancouver to take on the Warriors. Game time is set for 10 p.m. ET and the game can be seen live on MSG.
