Riptide Sign Four-Time All-Pro Callum Crawford

New York, NY (August 2, 2020) – The New York Riptide announced today that four-time National Lacrosse League All-Pro forward Callum Crawford has been signed to a two-year contract. The deal is pending league approval.

Per team policy, no terms were released.

A 15-year NLL veteran, Crawford earned NLL All-Pro First Team honors this season and was an MVP finalist as a member of the New England Black Wolves. The 6-foot-3 righthander led the league with 76 points on 33 goals and 43 assists in just 11 games before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.

On December 27, Crawford became the 11th player in NLL history to eclipse 1,000 career points with a career-high 14 points. That evening he had five goals and tied his career-best with nine assists. For his career, Crawford has played in 216 games and recorded 1,049 points on 390 goals and 659 assists. His helpers total ranks eight all-time in NLL history. He also has scooped up 893 loose balls during his career.

What better way to start building New York as the premier franchise in this league than adding one of the premier players in the league,” Riptide general manager Jim Veltman said. “Today we have done that with the addition of Callum Crawford. His attributes at playing this game are second to none and his track record proves that. This acquisition expedites our team building process exponentially. We are over-excited to welcome him to New York.”

Crawford has had 10 seasons with 70 or more points in his career, including two of 100 or more. His career-high 115 points came in 2016 when he was a member of the Colorado Mammoth and he also recorded 109 during the 2019 season with New England. He had a career-high 48 goals in 2019 and has scored 30 or more in seven of his 15 seasons, including each of the last five. In 2016, Crawford had a career-high 83 assists, which ties for the second-most in a single season in the league history books. He has dished out 50 or more assists in seven seasons during his career.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to help build this franchise and be a piece of what this team believes they need to become the premier franchise in the NLL,” Crawford said.

Selected by the Calgary Roughnecks with the 18th overall pick in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft, Crawford has played for eight teams during his career. In addition to his First Team honor this season, he was an NLL All-Pro Second Team honoree in 2013, 2016 and 2019 as well.
