NLL Draft Prospects – Tre Leclaire

As we get ready for the NLL Draft this fall, let’s take a look at some prospects that should be on the board heading into that night.

Next up, Tre Leclaire from Surrey, British Columbia

The BCJALL Rookie of the Year with the Delta Junior Islanders in 2015 with 94 points, Leclaire also earned First Team All-Star honors and was the team’s offensive MVP. In 2016, he had 62 points in just 15 games due to national team commitments. In 2020, he was a compensatory selection by the Langley Thunder in the 2020 WLA Draft. Internationally, Leclaire represented Canada at the 2018 FIL Men’s Lacrosse World Championship, winning a silver medal outdoors in Israel. He had three goals and one assist in seven games during the tournament. In 2016, he also earned a silver medal with Team Canada at the U-19 World Championships. His 11 goals and three assists, including a hat trick in the championship game, earned Leclaire a spot on the All-World Team.

Collegiately, Leclaire sits second on the all-time list at Ohio State with 135 goals and his 173 career points is the sixth best in Buckeyes history. A three-time All-American and a two-time All-Big Ten selection, he earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors while setting an Ohio State freshman record with 49 goals. Leclaire scored at least 26 goals in each season of his career and was sixth in the country in career goals scored among active players through the 2020 season. In his COVID-19 shortened senior season, he led the Buckeyes with 34 points (26 goals, 6 assists) and ranked second in the Big Ten in total goals and third in goals per game at 3.71.
