New York Riptide Sign Dan MacRae To One-Year Contract

Uniondale, NY (July 29, 2021) – The New York Riptide have signed defenseman Dan MacRae to a one-year contract, the team announced today. The deal is pending league approval.

Per team policy, no terms were released.

A 10-year NLL veteran, MacRae currently serves as captain of the Riptide. MacRae had six points on two goals and four assists in 13 games in 2019-20, while also scooping up 64 loose balls and causing 15 turnovers. He was named to the NLL All-League Second team. He scored arguably the biggest goal in franchise history on January 18 when he found the back of the net two minutes and 10 seconds into overtime to give the Riptide the first win in franchise history. The Riptide selected MacRae in the fourth round of the 2019 NLL Expansion Draft and he was the Roughnecks’ first round pick, sixth overall, in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft.

“Dan has proven for years that he is a premier leader in this league,” Riptide General Manager Jim Veltman said. “He embodies the kind of exceptional defense and character our coaches are looking for. It was essential that we signed our captain to lead our group into being a contender.”

The Riptide will return to Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the franchise’s second season this December. Fans have a chance to be one of the first to own a player tee of 2020 first overall pick Jeff Teat! For a limited time, place a $50 deposit per seat on a Season Ticket Membership and receive a free Jeff Teat player t-shirt. While supplies last.
