New York Riptide Sign Nine Players To Contracts

Uniondale, NY (June 2, 2021) – The New York Riptide have signed Carter Badour, Braiden Davis and Kris Veltman to three-year contracts and Brent Adams, Nolan Clayton, Jake Fox, LeRoy Halftown, Travis Longboat, and Adam Perroni to two-year contracts, the team announced today. The deals are pending league approval.

Per team policy, no terms were released.

Badour, selected 65th overall in the 2019 NLL Entry Draft by the Rochester Knighthawks, wrapped up his collegiate career at the College of Saint Rose as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 146 points. A two-time team co-captain, he had a single-season program record with 61 points as a senior, including matching his own school record of 44 goals. His 112 goals as a member of the Golden Knights, the most ever in Saint Rose history. In the summer of 2019, he had one goal and eight assists in 17 games for Coluitlam in the Western Lacrosse Association.

Selected 54th overall in the 2019 NLL Entry by the New England Black Wolves, Davis wrapped up his collegiate career at Vermont as one of 59 players in program history to record 50 or more points in their career. He also served as team captain as a senior in 2019. A native of Orangeville, Ont., Davis saw action in 10 games for the Oakville Rock in Major Series Lacrosse in 2019. He played Junior A with the hometown Orangeville Northmen, wrapping up his career with 28 points on 13 goals and 15 assists in 60 regular season games.

Veltman, selected in the fourth round, 53rd overall, was named Junior B East’s Most Valuable Defensive Player following the 2019 season. In 55 games with the West Durham Ironheads over five seasons, he had 39 points with 16 goals and 23 assists. Veltman also saw action in four games as an affiliate player for the Junior A Toronto Beaches, recording one assist.

Adams, a 6-foot-1 righthander, is currently a midfielder with the Atlas Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League. In 2019 he had 11 points on 10 goals and one assist for Redwoods Lacrosse Club. In 2020, he scored five goals and dished out one assist while scooping up 12 ground balls in six games of PLL Championship Series group play. Adams attended Fairfield University where he was a two-time All NEILA First Team selection and a two-time All-ECAC First Team selection following both his junior and senior seasons. He played in 13 NLL games for the Colorado Mammoth during 2017 and 2019 seasons, recording 18 points on 10 goals and eight assists. Adams spent seven seasons outdoors with four teams in Major League Lacrosse, winning a championship in 2012 with the Chesapeake Bayhawks and was a two-time All-Star.

Clayton saw action in six games for the Vancouver Warriors during the 2020 season, playing 22 minutes in net. He had a goals against average of 18.96 and a save percentage of 70.8% while stopping 17 shots. Prior to joining the Warriors, Clayton saw action in three games for the Paris Riverwolves in the Arena Lacrosse League. In 2019, he was between the pipes for 18 games for the Brampton Excelsiors in Major Series Lacrosse. He posted a 9-7 record and stopped 198 shots for a 53.7% save percentage.

Fox, selected 19th overall in the 2019 NLL Entry Draft by the Riptide, played in two games in 2019-20, and scored three points on one goal and two assists while scooping up four loose balls. Fox played in 23 games during his career with Johns Hopkins and, won a bronze medal with the Iroquois Nationals at the 2018 FIL World Championships and captured a Mann Cup with the Peterborough Lakers in 2018.

Selected in the second round, 20th overall, in the 2018 NLL Entry Draft by the Georgia Swarm, Halftown earned USILA third-team All-American honors as a senior at New York Tech in 2018. That season, he was also named the ECC and ECAC Offensive Player of the Year after scoring a team-high 52 goals and dishing out 18 assists for 70 points. As a member of the Onondaga Redhawks in the Can-Am Lacrosse League in 2019, Halftown had 30 points on 19 goals and 11 assists in seven games.

Longboat, selected 47th overall in the 2019 NLL Entry Draft by the Riptide, played in nine games in 2019-20, and scored 27 points on seven goals and 20 assists while scooping up 40 loose balls. In 19 games with the Six Nations Arrows in 2019, Longboat recorded 57 points with 22 goals and 35 assists.

Perroni, selected 14th overall in the 2017 NLL Entry Draft by the then-Rochester Knighthawks, has seen action in three regular season games over his NLL career. In 2019, he scooped up four loose balls in two games for the New England Black Wolves. For his career, he has eight loose ball pickups. In one playoff game for Rochester in 2018, he had one assist and three loose balls. This past season the transition player was a member of the Knighthawks practice squad. In 2018 he captured an Arena Lacrosse League title with the Whitby Steelhawks.
