New York Riptide Sign Three Players To Multi-Year Contracts

Uniondale, NY (July 13, 2021) – The New York Riptide have signed defensemen Cody Radziewicz and Nick Finlay to two-year contracts, and Matt Marinier to a three-year contract, the team announced today. The deals are pending league approval.

Per team policy, no terms were released.

Radziewicz saw action in 12 games for New York last season, recording six points on two goals and four assists while also scooping up 49 loose balls and causing 13 turnovers. In 63 career games played for Johns Hopkins, Radziewicz totaled 55 points on 38 goals and 17 assists.

“Cody had a successful rookie campaign with the Riptide last season,” Riptide General Manager Jim Veltman said. “More will be expected from him in his second year and we are confident he will be up for the challenge.  We are excited to see him progress into a bona fide defender.”

Finlay saw action in five games for the Wings last season, scoring one goal and dishing out one assist while scooping up four loose balls and causing five turnovers. The 16th overall pick in the 2017 NLL Entry Draft by the Saskatchewan Rush, Finlay has played in 14 games over three professional seasons. He had five points on three goals and two assists with 27 loose ball pickups and nine caused turnovers.

Marinier was selected in the second round (21st overall) of the 2019 NLL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Wings. The 6’6” left-hander was the tallest player selected in the draft that season. Marinier scored 11 assists in eight games played in 2020 for the Whitby Steelhawks of the Arena Lacrosse League. Marinier also saw action in 19 games in 2019 for the Burlington Chiefs (Ontario Jr. A), scoring nine points on four goals and five assists. Marinier added four goals in 14 games during Burlington’s run to the 2019 OJALL Finals.

“We acquired both Nick and Matt through trades because of the size, strength and athleticism they can bring to our defense,” Veltman said. “We look forward to seeing their lacrosse skills in full display at what is shaping up to be a competitive training camp.”

The Riptide will return to Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the franchise’s second season this December.
