NLL Draft Prospects- Jeff Teat

As we get ready for the NLL Draft this fall, let’s take a look at some prospects that should be on the board heading into that night.

Next up, Jeff Teat from Brampton, Ontario.

Teat led Major Series Lacrosse with 36 goals and 80 points for the Brampton Excelsiors in 2019, his first year playing in the league. He was also named the MSL Rookie of the Year following that campaign. Prior to making the jump to MSL, Teat saw action in 98 regular season games over five seasons with the Excelsiors Junior A team, where he also served as team captain. He recorded 577 points on 214 goals and 364 assists during his Junior A career. In 2016, Teat led Junior A with 145 points on 56 goals and 89 assists, the most points scored in the league since John Grant Jr. registered 160 points in 1994. He also led the league in points in 2017 with 136. Teat was the league’s Rookie of the Year in 2014. Internationally, Teat represented Canada at the 2018 FIL Men’s Lacrosse World Championship, winning a silver medal outdoors in Israel.

Collegiately, Teat plays at Cornell. A two-time Tewaarton Trophy nominee, he is a three-time USILA All-American and a four-time Inside Lacrosse Media All-American. Teat has received All-Ivy accolades on three occasions, including unanimous first-team All-Ivy selections in 2018 and 2019. During a COVID-19 shortened season in 2020, the team captain moved into third place in Cornell’s record books for career points in 268 and is also third in career assists with 152. He is ninth in Big Red history with 116 career goals. Teat is one of just two players in Cornell history to post three consecutive 30 goal, 30 assist seasons and is one of just four to record 70 points in three straight campaigns.
