Riptide Acquire Two Players, Pick From New England

NEW YORK, September 13, 2019 – The New York Riptide announced today that the team acquired defenseman Ryan Fournier, forward Myles Jones and the 24thpick in the 2019 NLL Entry Draft in a trade from the New England Black Wolves.

In exchange, New York sent forward Jordan Durston to New England. The deal is pending league approval.

“Ryan is an up and coming 18 game player in the league,” Riptide Head Coach and General Manager Regy Thorpe said. “He had a great season last year and brings the experience of being a regular shift guy to us. We feel like someone at his age with his experience and hunger will definitely help us on the back end. Myles is a proven outdoor player with great size, speed and athleticism and he is excited to be in New York and bring his skills to Riptide training camp. The opportunity to add another pick as well will give us another player that can be with the organization long term. To be able to get all three of these assets is a step forward for the Riptide as we prepare for the draft next week and our first season in Long Island. We wish Jordan all the best.”

Fournier saw action in 17 games for New England during the 2018-19 NLL season, his first with the franchise. He went 195-of-409 (47.4%) from the faceoff circle while also scooping up 80 loose balls and causing 12 turnovers. The Ottawa, Ont., native had three goals on the season as well.

Jones was a two-time NCAA Champion and a three-time All-American at Duke, where he recorded 231 points on 126 goals and 105 assists in 75 collegiate games. He was selected by the Black Wolves with the 37thoverall pick in the 2016 NLL Entry Draft but has not played a game for the club. Currently, Jones is a member of the Chaos Lacrosse Club in the Premier Lacrosse League after spending three seasons in Major League Lacrosse.

Durston was selected by the Riptide in the 2019 NLL Expansion Draft. He has 193 points on 81 goals and 112 assists in four NLL seasons.
