Jeff Teat Introduced to Media

Riptide Management Expresses High Hopes For Number One Overall Pick

WATCH THE PRESS CONFERENCE

On Wednesday, June 9th, Forward Jeff Teat was officially introduced to the Riptide fanbase and media via a Zoom call.

The number one overall pick in the 2020 NLL Draft from Brampton, Ontario, was excited about the opportunity.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Riptide family, and I’m excited to get playing in the Coliseum on Long Island once winter time comes around,” Teat said.

The Cornell University alum has lacrosse in his blood as his father played professionally in the NLL and is currently the assistant coach for the Panther City Lacrosse Club, also an NLL team. Father, Dan Teat, has ties with GM Jim Veltman.

“I played with Jeff’s father, Dan, in our hometown of Brampton and remember Jeff as a kid playing on the floor during intermissions or after games,” Head Coach Dan Ladouceur said. ” Little did I know that he would turn out to be one of the best up and coming superstars in box lacrosse.”

The coach’s son set many records in college lacrosse, leading Cornell University in the assist and points category for the fourth consecutive year with 15 and 27, respectively. The Canadian was a Tewaaraton Trophy nominee in 2018, 2019 and a finalist in 2020. However, the award was not given out in 2020 because of an abbreviated season due to Covid-19.

The Riptide organization does not see why his success can’t translate with a blue and orange sweater on his back. Rich Lisk, the Executive Vice President of GF Sports and Entertainment, has high expectations for number 51.

“I want to be able to put Jeff’s jersey in the rafters, alongside the Islander grades of the championships,” Lisk said. “They have up there alongside a couple championships for the Riptide too. This is an exciting time for our organization. We’re excited to move forward and we’re excited to have Jeff, as he said, as part of our family.”

Ladouceur agreed with Lisk.

“Jeff is just a natural fit to be a huge building block for this organization to create winning culture, to create a winning product on the field,” Ladouceur said. “It’s propelled this organization to be the premier organization in the league.”

Teat has played alongside fellow Riptide standout Tyson Gibson and is excited about the opportunity to reunite.

“Our styles go hand in hand together. And now we’re looking to continue that build and continue to find success.”

The Riptide acquired multiple newcomers to the team and are looking forward to becoming one of the premier teams in the league. All indications point to Teat being an integral part of the organization’s success, as they start their season at the Coliseum in December and hope to be raising many banners the Barn on Hempstead Turnpike.
