Riptide Acquire Kiel Matisz & Matt Anderson In Blockbuster Three-Way Trade

Uniondale, NY (August 4th, 2023) – Riptide EVP & GM Rich Lisk announced today that the Riptide have acquired Kiel Matisz and Matt Anderson from the Philadelphia Wings, plus the 32nd overall pick in the 2023 Entry Draft and a third-round pick in the 2025 Entry Draft from the San Diego Seals. In return, the Riptide send Scott Dominey to Philadelphia and the 22nd overall pick in the 2023 Entry Draft to San Diego, in a three-way trade. Philadelphia will also receive Mike McCannell from San Diego, and San Diego will receive Trevor Baptiste and the rights to Kyle Jackson from Philadelphia, while swapping draft picks.

Matisz, 34, served as team captain of the Philadelphia Wings since the team’s return to Philadelphia in 2018-19. The 6’5, 225 pound forward/transition player has played in parts of 10 NLL seasons with 174 games under his belt and has registered 188 goals and 373 for 561 points over his career. Matisz brings championship pedigree to the Riptide having won an NLL Championship with the Georgia Swarm in 2018.

Anderson, 24, is a Stony Brook University graduate who spent four seasons with the NCAA DI Seawolves Lacrosse Team. The Burlington, Ontario native was drafted by the 33rd overall by the Philadelphia Wings in the 2022 Entry Draft. Anderson, a 5’11, 185 pound right-handed forward, spent parts of six seasons with the Oakville Buzz and the Burlington Chiefs of Ontario Jr. A Lacrosse League.

Scott Dominey, 26, heads to the Philadelphia Wings after spending two seasons with the Riptide. Last season the Orangeville Northmen Jr. A product scored nine goals and added seven assists for 16 points in 18 games.

“Today is an exciting day for the Riptide,” said Rich Lisk. “First and foremost, I would like to thank Scott Dominey for everything he has done to help build the foundation of our organization. It is always difficult to part with people that you develop relationships with and on behalf of the coaches and the entire organization I would like to thank Scott for everything he has done for us and wish him all the best.

I am really excited about adding Kiel Matisz to our team. Kiel is exactly the player we are looking for this off-season to improve upon our offense. He will add a dimension that we were lacking but, most importantly we are adding a quality human being who has previously been a captain and won championships. His leadership on and off the field is second to none and he will be an integral piece of the Riptide moving forward.

We are also extremely excited about getting a young player in Matt Anderson who has ties to Long Island from playing at Stony Brook University and had a great Junior career. We are excited to see how he develops as a pro. We are looking forward to having these players with us at camp in November.”
