Riptide Acquire Mitchell From New England

New York, NY (July 6, 2020) – The New York Riptide announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Mack Mitchell and a second-round pick, 29th overall, in the 2020 NLL Entry Draft from the New England Black Wolves in exchange for the 18th overall pick, also in the second round, of this year’s draft. The deal is pending league approval.

In six games with New England this season Mitchell had four assists to go along with a career-high 23 loose ball pickups and six caused turnovers. For his career, he has seven points, all assist, as well as 47 loose balls and nine caused turnovers in 16 games.

“I couldn’t be more exited to have Mack as part of our organization,” GF Sports Executive VP Rich Lisk said. “Mack fills a hole for us as a lefty defender with a high lacrosse IQ. He adds NLL experience to our back end, which we needed. On top of that, his character is second to none and he will represent the Riptide exactly the way we want someone to represent this organization. He is another important piece of what we want to accomplish here in New York.”

Selected 34th overall by the Vancouver Warriors in the 2017 NLL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-3 Mitchell played in eight games over one and a half seasons with Vancouver before being traded to New England midway through the 2018-19 campaign.
