Riptide Re-Sign All-Star Forward Jeff Teat

Uniondale, NY (July 18, 2023) – The New York Riptide announced today that the team has re-signed left-handed forward Jeff Teat to a two-year contract, pending league approval.

The 26-year-old Brampton, Ontario native was selected first overall by the Riptide in the 2020 NLL Entry Draft and would go on to make his NLL debut in 2021. As a rookie, Teat appeared in 16 games for the Riptide, scoring 37 goals and adding 61 assists for an NLL rookie record of 108 points, also leading his team in assists and points, while finishing second in goals. Teat was named Rookie of the Year, while also being named to the All-Rookie Team and second team All-NLL. The forward was the first rookie to make All-NLL team since 2018 and the first rookie forward to be named to the All-League team since 2002.

In his second NLL season, Teat scored 56 goals and recorded 82 assists for 136 points, winning the 2023 NLL scoring title, and was one point shy of tying the NLL scoring record. Teat would be named a 2023 NLL MVP Finalist and named first team All-League.

Teat’s impact on Long Island went beyond the lacrosse turf last season, teaming up with Warrior Lacrosse to launch “Teat’s Warriors”, providing Riptide tickets to underprivileged communities on Long Island.

“I couldn’t be more excited to re-sign with New York,” said Teat. “I love being surrounded by a great group of people on and off the floor and look forward to our continued growth. We have high expectations to win, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

“We are thrilled to get Jeff signed to a multi-year deal,” said Riptide EVP & GM Rich Lisk. “We all know what Jeff can do on the floor, but what impresses me the most is his character, loyalty and team first attitude. Those are the building blocks to a successful organization. In my opinion Jeff is the best lacrosse player in the world and by signing a multi-year deal he has shown his commitment to what we are building here. I look forward to working side-by-side with Jeff for many years.”
