Riptide Re-Sign Defenseman Ron John

Uniondale, NY (July 21, 2023) – The New York Riptide announced today that the team has re-signed left-handed defenseman Ron John to a two-year contract.

The 25-year-old University of Albany graduate was originally drafted in the second-round (18^th overall) by the Colorado Mammoth in the 2020 NLL Entry Draft, but acquired by the Riptide in March of 2022. Last season, John, a sophomore, appeared in 17 games for the Riptide scoring two goals, adding 10 assists, scooping 83 loose balls and causing 20 turnovers.

“We are so excited to get Ron signed to a multi-year deal,” said Riptide EVP & GM Rich Lisk. “When we traded for Ron we wanted him to be a foundational piece of our defense and this contract reflects that. Last year was Ron’s first full season with the Riptide and we saw great progression. With another year under his belt we expect big things.”
