Riptide Sign 2022 First-Round Pick Zack Deaken

Uniondale, NY (June 1st, 2022) – The New York Riptide announced today that the team has signed 2022 first-round pick Zack Deaken to a two-year contract, pending league approval.

The 23-year-old defender was selected eighth overall by the Riptide in the 2022 NLL Entry Draft. A product of the Orangeville minor and junior systems, Deaken lead the Jr. B Northmen to a Founders Cup in 2016 before winning the Minto Cup with the Jr. A Northmen in 2019, 

Deaken is a former graduate of the prestigious Hill Academy, and went on to play collegiate lacrosse with the NCAA DI Jacksonville Dolphins as a short-stick defensive midfielder. In parts of five seasons, Deaken appeared in 64 games with the Dolphins, where he recorded eight points, 136 ground balls and 67 caused turnovers.
